Integrated Pathology System

The Integrated Pathology System (IPS) is designed to receive the long unfragmented specimens taken by the Biopsy Device and Needle.  The IPS features a unique self-sealing, folding design with an adhesive strip that lifts an intact core sample from the needle bed directly onto the carrier. Once sealed, the entire carrier is placed in a formalin vial, then taken for transport to the pathology lab, where it is processed. Its technologically advanced materials withstand a range of chemical processes from paraffin embedding and tissue block cutting, to final staining and analysis, without the need for the technician to ever open the carrier or come into contact with the specimen. The carrier has been pre-printed with linear measurements allowing the technician to determine the specimen size, reducing the number of steps required to access the specimen.
